Dog Problems

I feel like probably a quarter of these entries center around The Format and how great they are. This is another one of those entries (sort of?). Warning! Generic and cheesy statement coming:

I love music. (You were warned). This is not me trying to write some stupid cheesy quasi-philosophical semi-rant about the purpose of music in life. Screw that. The thing is, I always have music around- regardless of mood, situation, occasion, or place. Music is a constant. Because of that, I look back and associate certain music with certain events, or "eras" or crises, or happy times, or whatever.

All that to say- I love the new Format album. I loved The Format from the very first time I heard them, and there will always be a special place in my heart for them. Go pick up this album. This is the kind of music that I feel like I could blast in my car, and drive for hours, and just sort out a bunch of crap in my mind. Everyone needs music like that- and right now, this is mine. And for some unknown reason, I'm telling you.

I leave you with some advice passed down to me:
"Live happy"

I am at an internet cafe in England.

I've seen, well, lots of stuff. And I'm off to a pub to watch the World Cup game (England v Ecuador).

That's basically it- ask me if you want details.

Interventions and Lullabies

Obligatory "how's your summer going" post:

Life at home is much the same (for better or worse). Loving the weather, loving hanging out with friends, loving the lack of school. Babysitting some. Today I drove 2 little boys around in a car that is worth more than my life (to loosely quote Tommy Boy). Black 2006 Lexus SUV. Woah.

I talked to 2 cops at different times today. Blah. Ask me.

Leaving for Wheaton, and then England, so very soon. As usual, there's so much to be done. Homework for one thing, and figuring out the many hundred thousand packing crises that will inevitably arise at the most inopportune of times.

After freaking about the sold out concert in Dallas for the Fray, I got to see them for 5 bucks at this giant food festival thing in Dallas. It was such a great show. Again, ask me, I have video footage this time. I dig the digitial world. Whatever that means. (On a music-ish note, I've heard one song ["The Compromise"] from the The Format's new CD Dog Problems. And it rocks. Alot. Can't even wait for the album to come out. Stoked out of my mind. Oh, and I'm excited about the Da Vinci Code. End of parenthetical music-ish note. See- the "ish" was necessary.)

Home for a while, then I'm gone. Story of my (college) life. I miss ya'll- call me and we'll have conversations about how summer is a time of horribly boring jobs and killing time till we're back in Wheaton taking horribly boring classes and crossing off the days until summer.

Edit: On the VERY slim chance that anyone still cares, I put up the remaining few that no one guessed.

Am I like person # 4382 to do this? Yes. Do I care? No. Do I really dig the idea of this lyrics game? Yes. Am I enjoying this question and answer format? That has yet to be determined.

Step 1: Put your media player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

A Home For Bilby

The last couple of weeks have been really fun. Cheesy much? Yes, but still, it has been fun around here recently. Aaaaand we're all going home.

A brief recap of the last few weeks:

Multiple Format concerts, spending time in Chicago and finding a new respect for the North Side. Late nights, grub runs, and the insanity that comes with staying up till 5 in the morning attempting to study. Fun at Phonathon with lots of Associate dancing, and even more crossword puzzles. Finally getting sunshine, and getting the chance to go out and enjoy it. Going home, if only for a couple days, and getting to see friends. Reading good books in one sitting, and loving every single page. Seeing You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Good lectures, and good discussions. Getting to see movies I've been dying to see, and seeing previews for more movies that I'm now dying to see. Hanging out at the apt. and sharing insane ramblings and existential crises with Jordan. Two words: Cheese Toasties. Watching awesome friends episodes (Challenge extended.... challenge accepted. Aaaand Miss Chanandler Bong). Finding out that Anna Stern, if only for one hour, will be in my life this week (Confidence....). Watching Arrested Development (Steve Holt! As in, Go Buy Us some coffee). Rediscovering old favorite bands that you just can't stop listening to..... again. Seeing the Sophomores dominate class films, and earn every single award they got.Realizing that, every once in a while, there is fun to be had in Wheaton.  All of a sudden realizing how much I'll miss this place and the people in it.

It's been fun.
